1st Networking Meeting

The first networking meeting took place on October 8th at ICGEB Trieste, within the framework of the PROMOS project, and focused on technology transfer in academia.

The event featured three keynote lectures presenting best practices and available resources for participants, followed by an interactive round table discussion centered on the main challenges encountered in technology transfer and on possible collaborative initiatives to be developed in the coming years.

The round table provided an opportunity to collectively identify barriers to research translation and industrial or clinical uptake, with the aim of addressing them through shared solutions. The discussion also sparked ideas for future joint initiatives, including resource sharing, joint seminars and training activities, and networking events, all aimed at strengthening the technology transfer ecosystem.

In addition, participants exchanged best practices and past successful experiences, as well as updates on upcoming technology transfer initiatives, enhancing mutual visibility and encouraging participation.

Finally, the discussion promoted the pooling of efforts to develop joint activities and create synergies among members, ultimately aiming to increase the overall impact of individual and collective technology transfer actions.

2st Networking Meeting at the Life Sciences Matching & Demo Day

The Life Sciences Matching & Demo Day brought together over 70 participants from Italy and Austria on February 4–5, 2026, at the Urban Centre in Trieste, turning the city into a hub of ideas, connections, and cross-border innovation.

As the second innovation meeting of the PROMOS project, led by ICGEB and hosted by the FVG Cluster for Life Sciences, the event set out to bridge academia, industry, and institutions, accelerating the path from research to real-world biomedical solutions. Thanks to the collaboration with the PerfeTTO network and the Austria Business Agency (ABA), the initiative gained a strong international dimension, connecting key innovation ecosystems across borders.

The two-day event combined several keynote lectures and panel discussions with structured pitching sessions, where companies and innovators showcased their technologies and business ideas to a targeted audience. These moments sparked tailored matchmaking opportunities and one-to-one meetings, creating fertile ground for new collaborations and strategic partnerships.

The event also hosting a PROMOS Alliance roundtable, focusing on collaboration between academia and the private sector, where participants explored shared challenges and opportunities in technology transfer. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of thematic focus, early engagement with investors, and the role of collaborative ecosystems in supporting innovation.

This second meeting marked an important step forward in strengthening cross-border collaboration, reinforcing the PROMOS community and paving the way for future joint initiatives aimed at turning research into impactful and sustainable innovation.
